Putting West Tennessee to Work!

You are here: Home / Veteran Assistance

Veteran Assistance

Our offices serve as an outreach to veterans and insure veterans’ priority of service in referral to jobs and other services. Employment-related testing, training information, skills assessment and case management are among the services provided. Additionally, we work with employers to match their needs with your qualifications.

First Access to New Job Listings

U.S. Military Veterans are provided priority of service, meaning you receive access to all new jobs 24 hours in advance before they are visible to the general public on Jobs4TN.gov. This also applies to all programs funded by the U.S Department of Labor.

Training

We offer programs such as skills assessment, resume assistance and coaching on how to conduct a successful interview, to smoothly transition you to the civilian workforce. Our Veteran’s Services Program can provide you with the guidance you need to find suitable employment.

One-on-One Services

For those who qualify, a veteran staff member can also provide career guidance and help you develop a plan of action in your search for long term employment. One-on-one veteran services are for veterans who have served on active duty for more than 180 days or were discharged, or released, because of a service-connected disability and received a discharge other than dishonorable. They must also have a significant barrier to employment as defined by the USDOL.

The following individuals may also be eligible for veterans’ services:

  • The spouse of a veteran who died of a service-connected disability
  • The spouse of a service member classified as missing in action, captured, or forcibly detained by a foreign government or power
  • The spouse of a veteran who has a 100% disability rating from a service-connected disability
  • The caregiver of a veteran in the “Wounded Warrior” program.
