Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Area-11 and Southwest Human Resource Agency will host a Job Skills Development Forum in the near future.
The forum will feature guests that include U.S. Congressman Marsha Blackburn, U.S. Congressman Stephen Fincher, and representatives for U.S. Senator’s Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker. State Senators and State Representatives who represent the LWDA–11 coverage area are also invited to attend the event.
The forum will take place at the SWHRA central office in Henderson. All LWDA-11 board members are encouraged to attend as well as all SWHRA Policy Council members.
The purpose of the forum is to inform the U.S. Congressmen, U.S. Senators, and other representatives of the successes that LWDA-11 has enjoyed over the past two years.
WIOA is federally funded, and the funding comes to the local areas through the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The funding supports WIOA’s three
major groups of eligible individuals: Youth, Adults, and Dislocated Workers.
The forum plans to also discuss the importance of maintaining a well trained workforce in West Tennessee. If a new industry decides to make West Tennessee it’s home, or an existing industry wants to make some changes, then our workforce must be ready to take on the challenge.
