The inaugural year for the Gang Prevention Summer Youth Work Experience program for Madison County, the City of Jackson and the Madison County Juvenile Court was a tremendous success. The program provided summer jobs for specially targeted youth ages 15- 18.
A recognition banquet for the participants and employers was held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Amy Jones, Director of Juvenile Court Services, had this to say about the program: “The Summer Youth Learning Experience has made a tremendous difference in the community. The number of offenses are dramatically down in Madison County. The county and court are very pleased with this program and both agree funds were well spent.”
